whenever anyone mentions “playing the race card” in an argument I can only think

“I PLAY WHITE PRIVILEGE IN ATTACK MODE”

This is how American media works:

  • Brown guy = Terrorist, extremist, illegal.
  • Black guy = Hoodlum, thug.
  • White guy = Under stress, isolated case, lone wolf, sympathized with, etc etc.

And then there are people who have the nerve to claim we live in a post-racial society.

Unlike the beautiful 6-year old Jonbenett Ramsey who received coverage all over the media - every tabloid, newspaper, news channel, talk show, 7-year old Aiyana Stanley was killed by a police officer during a raid while she was sleep and her murder received very little coverage.

Police, searching for a murder suspect, threw a flash grenade through the window of her family’s apartment around midnight. According to Aiyana’s father, it landed on the couch, setting Aiyana on fire. A police officer’s gun then went off, and shot Aiyana in the neck.

Aiyana was asleep on the living room sofa in her family’s apartment when Detroit police, searching for a homicide suspect, burst in and an officer’s gun went off, fatally striking the girl in the neck, family members said.

Her father, 25-year-old Charles Jones, told The Detroit News he had just gone to bed early Sunday after covering his daughter with her favorite blanket when he heard a flash grenade followed by a gunshot. When he rushed into the living room, he said, police forced him to lie on the ground, with his face in his daughter’s blood.

“I’ll never be the same. That’s my only daughter,” Jones told.

We haven’t forgotten about you baby. R.I.P.

From A Series of Unfortunate Events DVD commentary track.

if you haven’t watched this film with the commentary then you are missing out, it’s hilarious. “Lemony Snicket” was completely unhappy with the film and wanted no real part of it and so in the commentary he just fucks about. Seriously, at one point he gets out an accordion and drowns out the director with his playing

omfg

My hero

“I have been Caucasian for nearly all of my life”

Officially on the need-to-watch list.

Somebody should stream this.

Seriously I can’t even fathom how they recorded him, he gives 0 fucks and pretty much all but says MAN I HATE THIS MOVIE over and over. It’s brilliant.

This Tumblr page will expose the Hunger Games fans on Twitter who dare to call themselves fans yet don’t know a damn thing about the books.

You honest to god don’t deserve to call yourselves fans.

I’m not sure what to headdesk about more.

1. How these people completely missed the descriptions of how Rue and Thresh both have dark brown skin

2. Why people are upset about white people not representing them in usually very whitewashed Hollywood.

When I saw movie-rue for the first time, I wasn’t upset that she was brown, but I was surprised. And then I went back and checked my book, and she definitely has brown skin in the book. I was surprised that I not only missed the description but that I defaulted to white in my head, something I’m rather ashamed about.

Also, have these people who are calling Rue not so innocent

ARE YOU KIDDING ME SHE IS SUCH A FUCKING BABY SHE IS THE SWEETEST.

I (somewhat) understand if people were like “oh man hey I defaulted to white in my head wow what a thing.” Sometimes shit like that happens, and we all have to work to make that happen less. But to look at this tiny sweet little girl and say that she is not innocent is NUTS. To say that her character deserved to die because she was black is NUTS. To say that the accurate representation of a character in a movie is ruining your experience is JUST FUCKING NUTS.

She’s gonna grow up to be such a pretty woman I mean look at her

And here she is dressed in her Sunday best fucking kawaii as hell

She is just a baby ok

I can’t wait to see this movie.

I think it’s innocent enough to default a character’s ethnicity because there’s either no clear description or because it was skipped over in passing (tbh, I had seen the movie before reading enough of the book and thought Cato = Kaito = Japanese. So I was a little confused there for a while and came up with some weird theory that his parents wanted to be diverse before I found out the real spelling. lol).

It’s just really weird to me that these people didn’t pick up their book/skim Wikipedia to confirm their physical traits before they complained so confidently and brashly. And also for their blatant racist disapproval rather than just showing that they’ve missed the small passages of physical traits.

And yes, omg, Rue is as sweet as a basket of kittens and sunshine. So adorable too! How people can’t grasp how she reminds Katness of Prim ~*despite being not-white*~ is stupid. I want to put her in my pocket. I hope that this promising young actress has a bright career! Screw the weird haters; she was really freaking cute and really brought Rue’s character to life and if they can’t see past the color of her skin to see that then…wow.
